La Terrace aux Rosiers
We stayed at a charming bed and breakfast in Longevres, near the city of La Rochelle. Our delightful French hosts told us about Ile de Re', which I had wanted to see, having first heard about it from an art show customer many years before.
The area is well known for its green shutters, white buildings, hollyhocks and roses in every color you would hope to see.
I liked the delicate counterpoint of the red roses and small courtyard against the sweeping façade of the structure built in 1610.
