La Droguerie
On my first trip to Europe everyone told me to go see the Provence region in southern France. So, I visited as many villages as I could. We drove around boulder strewn mountains and hills, winding roads, breath taking vistas, vineyards, olive groves, and many picturesque little villages, like the one where this photograph was made.
There are two shops side by side, run by a husband and wife, and the day I photographed them was market day, and everything was out to entice customers. As one who could never pass up a hardware store, I was intrigued by the French version of the general store. This was not a "big box" retailer as we know them in the United States. I was told that the storefronts of Paris looked like this at one time until they were remodeled.
I was drawn to the dappled lighting, which was created by century old sycamore trees that line the central square of the town.
