Auberge de Mirandol
In this France photo, I focused on this charming restaurant set up for evening alfresco dining. It was in a back alley in the central part of Sarlat la Caneda. Located in the Perigord Noir section of the Dordogne Region of southwest France, Sarlat is a very old town with beautiful lime and sandstone buildings dating back to the Middle Ages.
My wife and I toured the town on market day and had a chance to sample pâté de foie de canard as well as many autumn jams and jellies. We came to the conclusion the pâtés require time to acquire a taste for though the cheeses and jams were remarkable in flavor.
We fell in love with this quiet area of town with it’s rich textures and colors. Our dining plans took us elsewhere, but we wonder what culinary delights we missed…a good reason to take another trip to this rustic part of France.
